Rural Community Transportation (RCT) is a nonprofit organization committed to improving lives across northeastern Vermont by providing accessible, reliable transportation to those who need it most. Serving Caledonia, Essex, Orleans, and Lamoille counties, RCT helps eliminate transportation barriers to essential services — including healthcare, employment, education, and social connection.
With a mission to enrich the social, economic, and environmental well-being of rural communities, RCT operates under a values-driven framework rooted in compassion, support, and resourcefulness. Their innovative, community-centered approach ensures that every ride strengthens connection, fosters opportunity, and contributes to a healthier, more equitable region.
RCT needed a website that could clearly communicate its services to a broad rural audience, while being easy for internal staff to maintain and update. We began with a discovery session to understand their priorities — from route accessibility and public communication to reinforcing the organization’s mission of equity and connection through transportation.
We designed and developed a custom WordPress website that offers a clean, intuitive experience for riders and stakeholders alike. A town-by-town service guide, along with up-to-date bus schedules and route maps, makes it easy for users to find available transportation options based on where they live or need to go. We also integrated a lightweight CMS so RCT staff can manage content and update resources without technical support.
To bring warmth and personality to the digital experience, we conducted a custom photo shoot and produced a brand video, both of which are woven throughout the site to tell the RCT story visually and authentically. The design reflects the nonprofit’s community focus, using brand colors and accessible layouts to keep the site user-friendly and inclusive.
Built on a responsive, mobile-friendly framework, the site performs seamlessly across devices — especially important for riders on the move. We also implemented on-page SEO best practices to ensure the site is easily found by those searching for transportation help in the Northeast Kingdom and beyond. Hosted on our blazing-fast servers, the platform delivers speed, reliability, and scalability as RCT continues to expand its impact across rural Vermont.
