Lamoille FiberNet is a Communications Union District (CUD) working to bring fast, reliable, and affordable internet access to every home and business in Lamoille County, Vermont. As a publicly governed municipality made up of multiple towns, the CUD model enables Lamoille FiberNet to prioritize community over profit—focusing on long-term digital equity for residents.
With a mission to serve unserved and underserved areas, Lamoille FiberNet is committed to building a symmetrical, high-speed network that strengthens rural connectivity and supports local economic growth. Their approach centers on public/private partnerships, grant funding, and community oversight to ensure a cost-effective, sustainable broadband infrastructure for current and future needs.
To support Lamoille FiberNet’s mission of expanding equitable internet access across Lamoille County, we designed and developed a custom WordPress website tailored to the needs of a public-facing Communications Union District. We began with a discovery session to understand their priorities around transparency, accessibility, and community engagement, then reviewed comparable public-sector sites to identify best practices and opportunities for improvement.
The site features a clean, modern design with a visual system built around the organization's existing logo, color palette, and mission-driven identity. Designed with ADA compliance in mind, the site ensures accessibility for all users, including those with visual or motor impairments.
Built on a responsive, mobile-friendly framework, the site offers an intuitive experience across all devices. A robust CMS empowers the Lamoille FiberNet team to easily post meeting minutes, event calendars, policies, reports, and RFPs/RFQs, keeping the public informed and engaged.
Integrated social media feeds help extend outreach, while a structured FAQ section answers common community questions around broadband expansion, funding, and timelines. We also implemented SEO best practices to support discoverability for those seeking local internet solutions and public meeting information. Hosting on our blazing-fast servers ensures strong performance and uptime across the board.
