Four Nine Design - Vermont logo and brand identity design

Our process follows a design focused approach backed by proven best practices. The steps we will employ to design, develop, and deploy a new website are as follows.

OUR PROCESS

Design Process Step One

1. Research & Project Brief

Every good plan needs a road map and a clear set of goals. To begin the process, we’ll conduct a jump off meeting and complete a project brief that outlines key deliverables, deadlines and targets to guide the development and timeline for this project.

This in person meeting will help establish an understanding of your vision and desired results, we’ll review examples of branded work, your brand standards guide and develop a work flow / process between your staff and our team of designers. Within this phase we’ll outline:

• Project Leaders and Team Members; including preferred method of communication and contact info
• Details and milestones
• General content outline
• Specific project requirements
• Gather assets
• Review samples and reference materials

2. Initial Audit

We begin with a deep dive into your online presence - we research competitor sites, SEO performance and any relevant information we can find, putting together a comprehensive picture of how your brand may be best represented on-line.

During the course of our research, we will review comparable competitor websites to fully understand your market and incorporate any ideas we feel may benefit your company and / or site performance. During this phase we will take your site / functionality requests into consideration and provide feedback from the build-out and end user perspective.

3. Planning

Once satisfied that we are current on the brands position and your requests, we will propose a sitemap and wireframes that will act as the blueprint for the site going forward. This will also define the content and information architecture that will be included on the site.

4. Design

Following a proposed site map that clearly outlines page flow and content architecture, we will provide unique homepage comps intended to set the design tone for the remainder of the site and interior pages. Once approved we will design a suite of key interior page templates. The client is then provided rounds of revisions to finalize your homepage and interior page designs.

5. Production & Content Development

Once the design is approved, a production draft will be produced. This will be a working example of the site design and will illustrate interactivity and the responsive framework. During this phase you will be provided rounds of revisions to get the draft to a point where the final site can be produced.

Once approved, we will build out all remaining pages and input all copy and content (provided by client or migrated from current site). The amount of content that requires migration may impact the total billable hours required to complete the build.

Design Process Step Five

6. Testing & Deployment

Upon completion, you will be presented a final, proofed and throughly tested website and allowed one additional round of revisions prior to launch. Our testing and proofing process is detailed further in this document.

7. Search Engine Optimization

We will query Google’s database to develop a list of keywords that will be the most relevant to your search performance. As we build out the site, we will seed these keywords into the backend metadata to ensure maximum search engine visibility.

Upon launch, we will create and submit an XML sitemap that will tell the search engines exactly what we have for content and where to find it. We will also install Google Analytics and import the site into Google’s Search Console.
